Install the extension
Install the official Chess Overlay extension from the Chrome Web Store first.
Installation
Install the extension, then the engine.
First install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, then use the Windows engine installer to install the Stockfish 18 and Lc0 engines.
Install the Windows engine
Download the engine installer (.zip)Download the engine package
Download the Windows engine installer ZIP from this page.
Extract every file
Extract the files in the ZIP into a single folder.
Close Chrome completely
Close every open Chrome window so the engines can be updated safely.
Run install.bat
Running the BAT installs the engines automatically.
Restart Chrome after confirming completion
When the installation completion message appears, reopen Chrome and visit Chess.com to get started.
If the engine does not connect
Keep install.bat, install-distribution.ps1, and the engines folder together in the extracted package structure.
If the engine remains disconnected after installation, close Chrome completely, reopen it, and check the detailed engine settings.
